OUR PROMISE

At Miles Translations, we fulfil every assignment entrusted to us in the best possible way. Here is how:

01  We select our translators thoroughly.
02  Our translators only work in their own field.
03  Everyone translates into their mother tongue.
04  Our proofreaders check every translation.
05  You have the final say.
06  We respect your deadlines.
07  We translate for your audience.
08  We stick to all arrangements made.
09  We are a company of translators.
10  We know what we are good at.

01 - A translation is good if you don't notice that it is a translation. Good translators don't just know the language; they have a flair for it. They can feel when a sentence sounds awkward or doesn't sound right and they will polish and refine it until it is perfect. Those are the only people we work with.
02 - A legal translator is not by definition a good technical translator, and a technical translator does not necessarily have the stylistic talent of a good proofreader. Each customer is assigned the best translator and proofreader team for a specific assignment in their field.
03 - There is no such thing as perfect bilingualism. You can only have a perfect command of your mother tongue, and even then everyone makes occasional mistakes. That is why our translators only translate into one language: their own. If necessary, they are supported by native speakers who can explain the subtleties of the source language.
04 - Often, translators are not sufficiently detached from their own texts to notice typing errors, omissions or other slips of the pen. That is why we have all our translations checked by proofreaders. Via their feedback, the translator learns something new from every text.
05 - Every sector, every specialisation and every industry uses language in its own way. So you always have the last word. Thanks to our long-term relationship with our customers, we create a knowledge base of your terminology, which our translators and proofreaders can always draw on.
06 - Often, translation is the final link in a long production process. We are used to working to a tight schedule. We know how important deadlines are and ensure that we help you to meet them.
07 - Each type of text requires a different type of style: businesslike, persuasive, serious, clear or perhaps even humorous. A business letter in English uses quite different expressions than its Dutch equivalent. The humour in a French leaflet may disappear altogether if translated literally into German. We don't just translate the content of the base text, but also the form and the style.
08 - We deliver on our promises, from the textual, organisational and financial viewpoint. You provide us with accurate information on the length, subject matter and reference material for your document and we will supply you with the right quote stating the price and delivery date so that you know exactly what you will be receiving and when.
09 - Miles Translations was set up and is run by translators. So our staff have the necessary feeling for the translation business and delivering a good translation product always comes first.
10 - We aim for quality, not quantity. The range of languages and specialisations covered by our pool of writers and proofreaders is extensive, but not infinite. We only work in our own areas of expertise and in language combinations for which we can guarantee utmost quality.
